Hallo @ all,

Erster Austausch waren "Amperex 6922/E88CC" made in USA mit orangem Aufdruck.

Zweiter Austausch waren "JAN 7308 Philips ECG", made in USA, blauer Aufdruck. ALso ein "gut plus".

Dominik

I tried few of 6922 tubes (BVA, Telefunken E88CC <>, Mullard CV2492, PQ orange label 6922 made in holland, buggle boy 6922). Let me tell you that the ones I prefer are Siemens CCa, very expensive but that is the ones to get!
best regards,
teiki arii.

But I have been told that 7308 amperex and Mullard E188CC were excellent as well.

Hi teiki arii,

thank you for telling us your experiences with the different 6922 tubes. Did you ever heard of cryo-treated 6922?
"Ken,I got the "Cryogenically" treated grade 6922. They sound better than my Siemens CCa.
also available from Electroharmonix

Best regards
Axel

I also moved to Cryo-Tubes:

They are 6922 Russian MP SLNM CRYO E88CC/6H23CRYO

For sale here:

www.tubeman.com

They sound really, really good. Must be one of the best 6922 one can get. I'd say: go get it!

Cheers

Thank you very much for your advise. I'll try them when CDT-17A come beck from China.
I have already bought excellent tubes from Tubeman as CV4024 Cryo far better then the "normal" CV4024. I had also VT-229 Cryo Phono very very good as well.
Thank you again,
teiki arii.

I've just upgraded my Cayin DA-2 from Sovteks to old Siemens CCa. Absolutely amazing!! Which CCa do you use? The "A-Frame" with a small getter plate instead of a ring? I've heard these are the best. Mine have the plates and I paid 90 euro with a pair of military dampers/isolation hoods, I guess I was very lucky ...

I'm quite new to the tube community but already 100% impressed. My only tubes are in the DAC but what a big difference they make!

I've also tried out a pair of Amperex Bugle Boy Made in Holland which I bought with the CCas. Whilst the timbre is O.K. (much more real than with the Sovteks) there is much more "grain" than with the CCas which have much better transparency. My digital sound lost all its edges and I actually prefer it now over my turntable which has a bit less resolution.

Which other models of E88CC would you recommend to try out? Thanx!

I'd like to try tubes as power amps but would need at least 100 W/channel which would be very expensive. I'm very happy with my Stax monos, anyway ...

Jörg.

Hello yawg,
You've got three different "CCa siemens" - that I know  -:
- the halo getter with "two arms, bold label" that I have got,
Bild
- the halo getter with "one arm, thick label", better I have been told,
- the halo getter with "one arm thick label with grey shield between grey plates", the best of the bests I have been told; I hope so for more than 300 euros a pair...

And an outsider the "Siemens E188CC one arm with grey shield between grey plates", the best of the best E88CC...but very rare and too expensive IMHO...

You've got THE Ones, I think: but someone told me that 6922 Russian MP SLNM CRYO E88CC/6H23CRYO ones above were excellent as well...

If you need >100W, I am not sure that tubes power amps should be the ones unless very very expensive ones IMHO. But I have been told that very cheap Jungson JA-99C (80W class A) was excellent...

I wonder if it would be possible to give an extra pair of CCas a cryo-treatment. The result should be the absolute "Über-"tubes!! I'll get an extra pair of Siemens CCas soon. Where I live there is a Tech university, they should have cryo-equipment ...

Perhaps I try the cryo-treatment first on the pair of Sovteks which came out of my Cayin DAC

I found that Klimo made beautiful monster-monos with 150 W/channel but are discontinued, the Linnet. Very rare. Are the Jungson amps current? I could find out if they are imported to Holland and have a listen. 8)

Wwwaaaooowww...
I have even no idea how they do it..

Never heard about it...
Is that expensive? About the Jungson JA-99C, it is considered as the krell in China. And tweaked by André Devillers - another nice famous guy living in Belgium -, it is fabulous, amazing...Siezien - Search about power cord making - is tweaking the Jungson in a few days...
If you are looking for great tubes preamp/amp construction, try "Dr Tubes" in france... (JL Benoist)

Cryo-treatment

Teiki,

I looked around on the net and found people with mixed results from the cryo-treatment. It appears that the process helps to make a better tube out of a low or medium quality tube.

But with an already excellent tube as the Siemens CCa you can also lose some good properties with the treatment so it would be stupid to do it.

I certainly won't risk to lose (or change) the sound that I'm enjoying now ...

You are probably right! But I have Mullard CV4024 cryo and not cryo, there is a deep difference between these two...That is the only thing I wanted to notice...no more.
